Palm Beach County, FL — A construction worker was taken to Lakeside Medical Center in critical condition on Saturday, August 16, 2014. The accident took place in the 13800 block of Highway 27, around 8:30 in the morning.
According to reports, the worker was driving a bulldozer which rolled into a canal and a construction site near South Bay, near the now-defunct Talisman Sugar Mill. Emergency workers found passersby at the scene who had jumped into the canal to rescue the driver.
The man’s name has not been released and at this time it’s unclear what caused the accident.

There are still a few questions that need to be answered before we have a really clear picture of what happened here. Accidents like this can happen for a host of reasons. Sometimes the employee hasn’t been given the proper training. Sometimes they’re not using their safety gear. Other times there’s a malfunction with the equipment they’re using. From what’s been reported on so far, it sounds like this is a workers comp case. It’s possible that if there were something mechanically wrong with the equipment the worker were using, then it’s possible the manufacturer could be held responsible.
