One Injured in Alleged Drunk Driving Accident on Braun Road in San Antonio, Texas

SAN ANTONIO, TX — One person was hurt in a collision in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, May 10th, 2014, according to a report from KENS5.

Police have said that there is reason to believe one woman was hurt when the vehicle she was driving was struck by another car while driving on Braun Road around 1:00 Saturday morning.

Scene of the Accident

Authorities transported one person to a nearby hospital where an update on their condition was immediately available by hospital staff. The driver of the vehicle is believed to have been drunk at the time of the crash.

The investigation is currently ongoing.

Commentary:

The number one question on people’s mind should be the whereabouts of the driver before the crash. Why is this significant information? Because if the driver was at a bar, the bar could be liable for the accident. How does this work? Simply put, if a person elects to become intoxicated at home, the responsibility to not be a danger to themselves of society is their own, but when that same person elects to drink at a bar, tavern, restaurant, or nightclub, then servers and bartenders are brought into that loop. If the bartenders and servers failed to cut off a drunk person, or served even one drink to an already-intoxicated person, the bar has over-served their customer, and can be liable for the damages of any accident they cause after leaving their bar.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
