Reports say that the driver of the Jeep hit a patch of gravel and lost control of her car. Just taking a quick look at Google Maps, FM 777 in Jasper isn’t that long of a road. Maybe 800 feet. I’m only speculating here, but it’s possible that the Jeep was going too fast when it hit the gravel and lost control. That’s only one possible explanation for what happened here. In any case, if a vehicle loses control and crashes into another car, they, of course, bear the responsibility for the accident. Once local authorities complete their investigation, we’ll know a little more about why things happened the way they did.

I was the driver of the Murano. I survived. The car that hit me had just enough insurance to be legal in the state of Texas. I am still healing and out so much money, health, etc. I’m blessed to be alive. But also mad that the insurance didn’t cover my needs at all. 777 is actually a loop… I was on the section that cuts from 190 west to highway 63. I was not speeding and was going slow because it was school bus time. I was almost stopped and off of the road in the grass to try to avoid the oncoming wreck. I suffered a broken femur, hip (2 metal rods), a shattered ankle which will never be the same and is held together with 3 plates that run up my calf, a shattered elbow that will never straighten also held together with multiple plates, all ribs on my right side shattered from impact….a punctured lung that still doesn’t function properly and a lacerated spleen. I did have an attorney…but that didn’t help. Just know your life can change in the blink of an eye. I prayed for the other driver. She has never made contact or shown any remorse. I am happy I am still alive even if the pain I live with can be severe. Oh, and there was NO trailer involved in this accident. Just the jeep and murano. Only one person came to my aide….everyone else assumed I was dead or couldn’t handle the blood. The man that came and stayed with me is a Godsend, his name is Mr. Williams. He fought for me to hold on and to get me medical care. I was trapped for 2 hours, taken to Jasper Christus but then transferred to Beaumont St. Elizabeth. At St. Elizabeth I underwent a week of surgery, 1 week in ICU, ! week in the hospital and 2+ weeks inpatient therapy. I am finally out of a wheelchair.
