CALLISBURG, TX — Five students were hurt in a school bus accident that happened in Callisburg, Texas on Thursday, April 24th, 2014, according to a news article from KXII.
Investigators have said that they believe five school children were hurt when a school bus they were on crashed while driving on Co Rd 219 on Thursday morning. The vehicle left the road before hitting a wooded patch before continuing driving.

Five of the students on board the bus were taken by EMS responders to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
The driver of the school bus was identified by police as 83-year-old James Floyd, who currently faces charges of intoxication assault in connection with the accident.
Officials expect to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
Commentary:
If this news report is accurate, I cannot recall another case with such a horrific fact pattern. The few questions that pop into my head revolve around the driver of the bus, and if he had any previous alcohol related offenses on his record, and if he did, why was he hired in the first place? Unfortunately, school districts and the majority of governmental agencies have predetermined damage caps that limit the liability in accidents like this one, if they can even bring a case forward to begin with. There is always the option of holding the driver personally liable, but even then the damages may not be covered.
