Juneho Yum was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency response personnel when they arrived. The driver of the SUV was identified in the report as 30-year-old Ryan Forbes, who currently faces drunk driving related charges in connection with the accident.

Commentary:
People seem to have it in their minds that a typical car accident is handled in the same way that alcohol related accidents are and this is simply untrue. In the State of Texas, we have lawmakers that set forth liquor liability laws that hold bars, nightclubs, restaurants and liquor stores to a high standard when selling or serving alcohol. This means if a bar is found to have over-served a person who then causes an accident that hurts or kills another person, that bar can be held liable for the negligent provision of alcohol if liquor is found to be the cause of the accident. Only when bars are held liable for drunk drivers will bars begin to see their customers as potential liabilities.
