UPDATE: Brandon Talkington Killed in Two Vehicle Collision in Raisin, TX

Raisin, TX — Authorities have released the name of Brandon Talkington, who was killed in an accident on Thursday, April 17, around nine in the evening.

Talkington’s Jeep was hit from behind as he was driving along U.S. Highway 59, when he was hit by Charles Lankford. The collision caused Talkington to lose control of his Jeep, which rolled off the highway.

The collision didn’t kill Talkington, and emergency workers reporting on the scene say that he was able to get out of his vehicle after the incident. However, he died a short time later.

Commentary

There are a couple of different things to look at in this case. On is that it happened in the evening. One might think that if the victim were trying to merge onto the highway, then the sensible thing for any vehicles behind him to do would be to slow down and let him get on. But because this happened at, it’s possible that the Jaguar that hit the victim wasn’t able to properly judge the car’s speed, and by the time he saw the two vehicles were going to collide, he didn’t have the time to do anything about it. It’s also possible that the Jaguar had every chance to see what was going on and correct for it, but for whatever reason just didn’t. The reports I’ve read on this one don’t offer many details on the driver of the Jaguar, so I’m hesitant to speculate. But it’s worth noting that there perfectly reasonable explanations for both sides of the argument here.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
