Amarillo, TX — Seven people were sent to the hospital in an accident that involved an 18-wheeler, two vehicles, and a McDonald’s. The accident took place at the corner of Amarillo Blvd. and North Pierce Street in Amarillo, Texas, at around ten at night.
The 18-wheeler was traveling along Pierce when it collided with a Honda at the intersection of Amarillo. As the 18-wheeler veered away from the accident, it jumped a curb, hitting a Ford Explorer parked next to a McDonald’s. The force of the collision pushed the Explorer through the wall and into the restaurant. The 18-wheeler followed the Explorer into the McDonald’s, finally coming to rest on top of it.
The driver of the 18-wheeler had to be extracted from the cab before sent to the hospital, along with the driver of the Explorer, people in the Honda, and in the McDonald’s. No one sustained any critical injuries. The vehicles were removed from the restaurant some hours later.
The authorities are continuing their investigation, although they believe it was caused by either the 18-wheeler or the Honda running a red light.
