Commentary:
Work accidents can be very, very intimidating affairs for the victims. If an employer has workers compensation, they may get some help, but more often than not it is the barest of minimum, and rarely – if ever – meets the quality of life for the injured individual. Unfortunately, workers compensation often acts like a bulletproof vest for the employer. Often times the employer will send you to a doctor that is in their employ in some capacity for a checkup. These doctors want to keep their relationship with the employer, and may intentionally misdiagnose or downplay the seriousness of the condition in order to further and secure their affiliation with the company. This can lead to serious conflicts later on down the line when medical issues worsen or persist.
