UPDATE: Anjelica Morales Injured in Car Accident in Goshen, Arkansas

GOSHEN, AR — A two vehicle accident left two individuals hospitalized in Goshen, AR on Sunday, March 23rd, 2014, according to a news report from 5newsonline.

Police have said that they have reason to believe Anjelica Morales was hurt when the car she was driving was struck by a pickup truck while driving on Highway 45 around 10:00 in the morning.

Scene of the Accident

Anjelica Morales was taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Bob Ballinger, who was also injured in the accident.

The investigation into the crash is being handled by officials from the Arkansas State Police, who expect to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.

Commentary:

The news article says that one of the drivers was cited for careless driving. Many people would automatically assume that just because and individual is cited after an accident, that means the fault is automatically on them. Firstly, the citation could be unfounded in court, and secondly, fault and responsibility are two different things altogether. While it may be easy to pin fault on another driver, getting that driver to accept responsibility for the accident is an often difficult task. Car accidents can be complicated affairs, and fault can sometimes be split unevenly or unfairly. Knowing what lies ahead of you during an accident investigation could help you should you find yourself shouldering the burden of proof.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
