The New York Times has a good article out about the perils of arbitration agreements and their difficulty in reaching a just resolution. Most major corporations require employees to sign on to an arbitration program as well as a majority of consumer contracts.
The system was originally designed to resolve disputes between two equals in the business world. But as with many other things a shift has occurred in the legal community and higher courts have often sided with the large corporations. This has presented a problem when something does go wrong with employment or a product.
Have a look at the article and express caution the next time you are asked to sign an arbitration agreement.
