Dinwiddie County, VA — Three people were injured in an accident that happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, on I-85.
According to the Dinwiddie Sheriff’s Office, Lonnie Mixter was heading north on I-85 when he approached a fire truck and a sheriff’s deputy car, which were blocking off the right lane on I-85. The 18-wheeler apparently approached without slowing down and crashed into the firetruck, which then struck the deputy vehicle.
The impact of the 18-wheeler with the firetruck caused the firetruck to be split in half. The fireman and the sheriff’s deputy were rushed to a nearby hospital for their injuries. Mixter was airlifted to VCU Medical Center for his injuries. This accident is still being investigated, but it does appear that Mixter is being charged in the accident.
