Corpus Christi, TX — A driver apparently struck a young woman earlier this month and left her in the roadway while he fled the scene. 21-year old Christina Vaughn passed away several days after this hit-and-run accident, and it looks like police are still searching for the driver.
They said that on Saturday night, October 10, 2015, Christina Vaughn was trying to retrieve something in the middle of the roadway along the South Padre Island Drive when she was hit by a passing SUV.
According to their reports, Vaughn had been hauling a mattress in her pickup truck, but it had accidentally fallen into the roadway.
After she stopped to try and pick it up, she was hit by an SUV driven by a man with dark skin, transporting a female passenger. The man allegedly stopped for a moment after hitting Vaughn, then fled the scene.
Right now, the police are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact the Corpus Christi Police Department.
