Linden, New Jersey — A young man in a car got into a major accident on the New Jersey Turnpike last month, injuring two of his passengers and killing a third. Police said that Jonathan Donan, 22, was the driver of a Honda Civic that crashed on the NJ Turnpike on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Jose Cruz, 18, was killed and Richard Donan, 19, and Christian Donan, 14, were both seriously injured.
The accident I’m talking about happened at about 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, near mile marker 98.
Jonathan Donan had been driving his Honda south that morning when he lost control for unknown reasons and swerved onto the shoulder.
His car then drove into a grassy area and crashed into a fence & pole, finally crashing into a nearby parking lot and hitting four parked cars before coming to a stop.
The accident critically injured Richard Donan and moderately injured Christian Donan. A the last update, Richard Donan was still in life-threatening condition at a hospital.
Jose Cruz, however, died a short time after the accident at the hospital.
More information on the accident should be released later, but it’s not clear right now why Jonathan Donan lost control of his car. He was not seriously injured and was able to be treated and released after the wreck.
