Commentary:
Just going off the news reports surrounding this accident, I’d be willing to venture that the two-vehicle accident, and the tractor-trailer crashing through the accident scene are going to be looked as as two separate events, given that enough time had passed between the first accident for first responders to arrive. What does this mean? Well, it means that the trucking company is probably going to have a great deal of explaining to do regarding their role in the crash. Right off the bat, I can’t imagine how much had to go wrong for an accident like this to happen. While we don’t know for sure, I’d say that it is a pretty safe bet that the police patrol vehicle or tow vehicle that were hit by the tractor-trailer had some kind of lights or flashers activated. If not these vehicles, than the others that responded to the scene must have. This means that the truck driver would have had to overlook both cars involved in the previous accident, emergency response vehicles with lights active, and all buzzing activity of EMS and first responders at the scene, and it needs to be found out why. Every single day there are accidents on our interstates where tractor-trailers drive on by without incident, so what were those truck drivers doing that the truck driver in this accident failed to?
These are the kinds of questions that need to be asked, and judging from the news report, nobody is asking them.
