Atwater, CA — A worker at the Atwater Iron & Metal facility in Atwater was badly injured late last month after something went wrong while he was working on a dump truck. The worker’s name was later released as Genaro Catano, 78.
According to the news releases, this happened around 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Catano was at Atwater, working underneath the bed of a dump truck, when one of the levers that controls the truck bed was somehow depressed.
Once the lever was pushed, the truck bend lowered down and crashed Catano underneath it. He was immediately taken to a hospital and treated, where it was said that he sustained major arm and shoulder injuries.
More investigation is to be completed here, as it’s not really clear why that dump truck bed suddenly came down on him like that. The news didn’t mention whether Catano was working alone that day or not.
