East Lampeter, PA — One man was injured in a multi-vehicle accident that took place in East Lampeter, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. The accident took place on the Route 30 Bypass, near the state police barracks.
Reports say that a tractor-trailer driven by Darryl Dixon failed to come to a stop for slowing traffic and swerved in an attempt to avoid collision. It clipped another tractor-trailer being driven by Robert Naugle before hitting the back of a pickup being driven by David Ebling.
Dixon’s truck went on to hit another vehicle before crashing into two utility poles before finally coming to a stop.
Ebling sustained unspecified injuries and was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, although reports have said that the hospital had no records of him ever being brought there.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident.

Commentary
Liability in an accident like this seems pretty obvious. However, when a commercial trucking company is involved, you can never take anything for granted. It won’t do to just file an insurance claim and wait for the system to do its work. The trucking company is going to fight you, and in many instances, try and make the case that you’re responsible for your own accident. Proving cases like this require evidence, and that requires an independent investigation, that’s going to be able to investigate the scene, interview witnesses, and go deeper than the police are going to be able to. Your best interests are not a trucking company’s best interests. To them, helping you only eats into their bottom line. They’re only going to help if they’re forced to, so victims have to take it upon themselves to get the ball rolling.
