Officials at the Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that Gerber has recalled roughly 119000 units of their Bear Grylls Parang Machetes due to a breakage and laceration hazard. Sources said that the machete has the potential to break in a weak area where the blade and the handle are joined. The company said that if the blade breaks free from the handle laceration injuries can occur.
Gerber said that 24 instances have occurred in which the machetes blade has broken including one case that resulted in a nonfatal laceration injury. The affected models were 31-000698 31-00157 and 30-0006010. Consumers can contact Gerber for a replacement reports said.
