Commentary:
This is the type of accident where I am most interested in the layout of the roadway, as well as the speed of the other vehicle. If the truck was speeding, the victim may have thought there was plenty of time and space to complete the turn, but if the other driver was speeding, they could not have judged the turn properly. It can be very difficult to estimate a vehicle’s speed when it is driving at you, and we have all turned across traffic only to glance in our rear-view mirrors to discover that we have been narrowly missed by a speeding vehicle.
