Skateboarder Injured in Hit and Run Accident in San Diego, CA

San Diego, CA — Authorities say that an 18-year old was hospitalized when he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee while skateboarding. The accident took place in San Diego, California, on Sunday, around 10:45 in the evening.

The accident occurred near Polk Avenue and 47th Street. The 18-year old was skating in the middle of the street when what’s been described as a white Jeep Cherokee ran into him. Witnesses say the driver of the Jeep was a woman with long hair. She stopped for a short moment to look at the man before driving off.

The police are still searching for the driver of the Jeep.

It doesn’t happen very often, but there have been cases where someone will hit someone with their car, not realize it, and drive away. Again, not often, but it happens. That isn’t the case here. The driver stopped, looked out at what she had done, and drove away. There’s no excuse for that. And whenever the police find her, she’s going to need to be held accountable for what she did.

Of course, some might point to the fact that the skateboard was out in the middle of the street when this happened. That may be true. However, it’s not an excuse for the driver of the Jeep to hit him. When the accident is avoidable, it’s the responsibility of the driver to avoid the accident. Right now, it doesn’t look like that’s what happened here.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
