Wellington, FL — Earlier this month, a man in an SUV was killed after a near head-on crash with a dump truck in the Wellington area. Police identified the victim as Cesar Echavarria and said that this happened on Tuesday afternoon, November 11, 2014.
They said that Echavarria was driving a Honda Pilot along South Shore Boulevard at about 4:00 p.m. that afternoon when he suddenly swerved into oncoming traffic just south of Lake Worth Boulevard.
When he entered the oncoming lanes of traffic, he was hit head-on by a blue dump truck. The accident pushed Echavarria’s SUV into a nearby ditch and he was declared dead at the scene. Police said that the dump truck was originally headed north and that Echavarria had been driving south.
Right now, they’re not sure what caused Echavarria to lose control of his SUV, but they said that it’s possible a medical emergency could have been a factor.
