UPDATE: Joshua Holt Injured in Car Accident in Cleburne, Texas

CLEBURNE, TX — A single-vehicle crash left one man in the hospital in Cleburne, Texas on Saturday, March 22nd, 2014, according to a news report from The Cleburne Times Review.

Police with details of the crash investigation have reason to suspect 29-year-old Joshua Holt was hurt when the Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving rolled after hitting the curb while driving on West Westhill Drive. The accident happened around 3:30 in the afternoon on Saturday.

Scene of the Accident

Joshua Holt was taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital in a helicopter where an update on his condition was not made available by hospital personnel.

The investigation into the crash is currently ongoing by personnel from both local and state agencies.

While we don’t know what caused the accident, but there are a few details in the news report that raise a few questions. First and foremost, what were the conditions at the time of the accident? If the weather or roads were in poor condition, did the driver adjust their speed and following distance to avoid an accident? I have never once seen a vehicle crash or roll that was driving at a speed that was safe and appropriate for conditions. Keep in mind that this accident could have been caused by any number of factors, be it a tire blowout, or another driver swerving, the bottom line is assigning fault based on a news article would be a pretty big assumption.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
