On Wednesday June 2 Ron Kirk former Dallas mayorwas injured in an accident in Grand Prairie TX. The accident happened as Kirk was driving inthe westbound lanes of Interstate 30 near Belt Line Road. Initial news reports state that Kirk wasdriving behind an 18 wheeler when the 18 wheeler struck a metal ladder on thefreeway. This caused the ladder to flythrough the air behind the truck and crash into Kirk’s windshield. Kirk was struck in the arm. He was taken to Methodist Dallas MedicalCenter for treatment. His injuries arereportedly not life-threatening. Thedriver of the 18 wheeler did not stop after the incident. Police are still investigating.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.
