One person was taken to the hospital after the Ford Taurus they were driving collided with a fire truck that had responded to a previous rollover accident on Interstate 80. Police believe that the car struck the truck from the rear while firefighters were assisting the scene of the other accident.
The driver of the Taurus was taken to John Muir Medical Center where they were being treated for unspecified injuries. The driver of the fire truck was also hurt in the accident.
The investigation is being handled by several agencies, who hope to release the findings of their investigation in the coming days.

Commentary:
If the car struck the back of the fire truck, and injured the driver of the fire truck, then the car must have been going pretty fast to transfer so much force all the way to the front of the truck. When cars strike the back of big vehicles like this, anybody in the passenger compartment rarely knows something happened, so there must have been a great deal of energy in the collision. Depending on what happened, I’d say that the fire truck driver that was hurt probably has a pretty solid claim against the driver of the car. If the truck had it’s lights flashing as they normally do when responding to an accident scene, it only deepens the validity of the claim, but again, I’d need to see more facts before I said anything for sure.
