Villisca, IA — Two people were injured in a single-vehicle car accident that took place in Villisca, Iowa, on Thursday, March 5, 2015. The accident took place on Highway 71, about a mile north of Highway 34, around 4:00 in the afternoon.
Two people were involved in the accident. Amanda Johnson and her 4-year old child, Havyn. Reports say that they were traveling north on Highway 71 when they crossed over the oncoming lane of traffic and drove off the road before driving into a ditch. They continued on for about 400 feet before their minivan went airborne and crashed into a rise in the terrain and coming to a stop.
Both Amanda and Havyn were not wearing seat belts at the time and both were ejected from the vehicle.
Amanda Johnson was taken to Nebraska Medical Center while Havyn Johnson was taken to another nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported. At this time, what caused the accident is not clear.
