Westport, CT — A construction worker was injured in an accident that took place in Westport, Connecticut on Thursday, March 12, 2015. The accident took place at a house that is currently under construction near the intersection of Stonewall and Hermit lanes.
Local reports say that the man was working on scaffolding above the home’s front door when the scaffolding collapsed and he fell to the ground. The man sustained a laceration to the head and was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.
The man’s name has not been released.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been made aware of the accident and are currently investigating.

Usually, accidents like this are going to be covered by an employer’s workers’ comp policy. However, there are certain situations that crop up from time to time that could change that. Reports say that the individual involved in this accident was hurt when the scaffolding he was using collapsed from beneath him. It’s very possible that the scaffolding he was using wasn’t working properly. If this was scaffolding that was purchased or rented specifically for the purpose of keeping someone up while they worked, and it was somehow defective, then liability for the accident could potentially shift to the manufacturer, and the injured worker would have a claim against them.
