BROOKLYN, MS — One person was taken to the hospital after an accident with a log truck that happened in Brooklyn, Mississippi on Thursday, March 12th, 2015. News reports said that the accident took place at about 6:30 Thursday morning.
56-year-old James Mosley was hurt when a tractor-trailer and a log truck collided while driving in the southbound lanes of Highway 49. Police did not say exactly how the accident happened.
Moseley was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital where he was being treated for serious injuries.
The Mississippi State Police are investigating the accident.

Even if the news doesn’t report about how this accident happened, if I were to guess I’d say that the tractor-trailer may have been hit while it was pulling out of the gas station. If I’m right, it may be prudent to check the speed of the truck that was on the major roadway, as well as any electronics the driver had access to. If the truck was speeding, or the driver was distracted when the other truck was pulling out, there may have been a missed opportunity to avoid the accident. On the other side of the coin, the truck that pulled out may be at fault if the driver simply drove onto the road without looking. In any case, this is one accident that needs a closer look at all the possible angles.
