Anchorage, AK — There was a serious work-related accident at a construction site this past Tuesday (March 10, 2015) in rural NE Anchorage that left two workers injured. Authorities said that two workers encountered breathing problems inside a well and were trapped inside while unconscious.
This happened at about 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, at a residential construction site off Golden Eagle Drive. According to the news reports, a worker dropped some dry ice down an 8-foot well on Tuesday evening in order to help the pressure for a residential water well.
However, another worker went down inside the well and the dry ice started to give off gas that displaced the oxygen at the bottom of the well. The first worker was incapacitated and another worker suffered the same thing after he jumped in to help.
Another worker called 911 after realizing what was happening and the men were rescued and taken to a hospital. It’s not clear how bad their injuries were.
