Commentary
After driving your vehicle for a certain amount of time, you get to know it really well. You know what kind of turns it can make, how quickly you can bring it to a stop, and how quickly it can speed up. So, armed with that knowledge, I’m always surprised to hear about semi-truck accidents like this one. Didn’t the driver know they didn’t have the time to make the crossing before oncoming traffic reached them? This is either something they weren’t aware of, or they just weren’t paying attention to the road, and so didn’t know they were pulling out into the middle of a busy road. The thing is, in these situations, a driver is always going to have to yield to oncoming traffic. Always. So my question now is, if the driver wasn’t paying attention the what was going on around her, what was she paying attention to?
