Holland, MI — A man was hospitalized following a car accident in Holland, Michigan, on Saturday, March 7, 2015. The accident took place at the intersection of U.S. 31 and James Street, around 9:45 in the morning.
According to local reports, a woman identified as Karolyn Rich ran a red light while headed east on James Street. In the middle of the intersection, her vehicle was hit by pickup truck headed south and being driven by Brent Groenewoud.
The force of the collision caused Groenewoud’s vehicle to flip over onto its roof. Emergency workers transported Rich and Groenewoud to Holland Hospital. Rich was pronounced dead on arrival, while Groenewoud was listed in critical condition.
Police say Rich was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The accident is still being investigated.
