Commentary
I have to say that news reports have made this accident a little hard to understand. Reports say that the victim was riding on a trail, and trying to avoid a logging truck that was headed toward him on the same trail. If that’s the case, I would question why the truck was driving on the trail at all. It seems as if that area would be reserved for hikers or people using recreational vehicles. Beyond that, how fast the driver traveling at the time? Was he not paying attention to what was out on the road ahead of him? If you see someone heading toward you on the road, why wouldn’t you stop? I think that, at the very least, the driver of the truck has some pretty tough questions to answer.
