Commentary
After reading about this accident, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that a bar was involved. Accidents like this typically happen very late at night, or very early in the morning, as a drunk driver is headed away from a bar. Drunk drivers don’t typically drink at home and then go out for a ride. If a bar was involved, it’s possible they could be held partially liable for the accident. Texas law forbids establishments that serve alcohol from serving to those who are obviously intoxicated. The reasons behind a law like this should be pretty obvious. The more alcohol someone consumes, the more likely they are to get into an accident. If a bar chooses to ignore that law, and the customer they over-serve goes out and gets into an accident, the bar needs to be held responsible for that. Rather than be allowed to open its doors the next day as if nothing’s happened.
