I’d be very curious to see where this fire originated from. Was it some kind of defective machinery? If so, then there may be a lot more to this accident than a difficult and antiquated workers’ compensation solution that many are corralled into after an accident on the job. If some kind of equipment malfunctioned and resulted in the fire, then the claim may not be against the employer, but would be a claim against the manufacturer of whatever machinery caused the blaze. This type of workaround usually allows the victim to duck the painful disadvantages of workers’ compensation to get back as much as they can of what they lost in the accident.
