Congers, NY — A man was severely injured after crashing into a snow plow in Congers, New York, on Monday, February 23, 2015. The accident took place on Route 9W, just south of Route 304, around 7:15 in the evening.
Details on exactly how the accident happened are sparse. Reports said that a car being driven by Felipe Portillo crashed head-on into a snow plow, suffering critical injuries.
Portillo was trapped inside his vehicle following the accident, and emergency workers had to amputate his foot before he could be removed. Officials said that his leg was so badly injured, the amputation was required.
The 35-year old Portillo was taken to Nyack Hospital before being taken to Westchester Medical Center. At last report, the man was listed in stable condition.
The driver of the snow plow, identified as 37-year old Scott Page, was not injured.
