Commentary
Accidents involving a public transit bus will be handled differently depending on who owns it. If the bus belongs to a private company, then the accident would be handled much like any other auto accident, with the company being open to having a claim being filed against it. If the bus belongs to the city, that’s a different matter. Different states have different laws regarding the filing of claims against state-owned entities. In Texas, there are very strict deadlines regarding the filing of any claims, as well as limits to the amount of compensation a victim can receive. Those involved in these sorts of accidents have to educate themselves on the process, and it can’t be treated like any other accident.
