Fayetteville, AR — There was an accident reported this past Saturday (February 21, 2015) that claimed the life of a local man, 58-year old Bounthavy Douangphachanh, and injured a local woman, 54-year old Sinoune Douangphachanh.
The accident was reported at about 11:30 p.m. last Saturday, and the driver who struck the Douangphachanh’s vehicle has been identified and arrested: Benn Garrett, 26.
According to the news reports, Mr. Garrett was driving his car east along Highway 16 last Saturday night when he lost control just west of Fayetteville. His car swerved into oncoming traffic, where it collided head-on with the Douangphachanh’s Chevrolet.
The accident killed Bounthavy Douangphachanh immediately and left Sinoune Douangphachanh with major injuries. She was taken to a hospital, though Garrett wasn’t harmed. It appears now that Garrett is facing charges for the accident.
