Commentary:
Was the fire that resulted after the accident the source of the victim’s injuries? Many would be stunned to learn just how many tractor-trailer accidents result in a massive fire. Many of these fires can be traced back to the externally mounted gas tanks on the sides of these trucks. For whatever reason, the designers and manufacturers of these trucks found it to be prudent to mount a canister of combustible fuel mere feet above the road, without any kind of reinforcement or armoring at all. These gas tanks just happen to be at the perfect height to be struck, crushed, or punctured by any passenger vehicle that happens to come into contact with, and the results are typically disastrous. If an attorney in Texas has noticed this problem, you can bet that the big truck manufacturers have too. So why haven’t they done anything to protect truck drivers and anybody else out on the road?
