Strawberry, Arkansas — A man lost control of his car and caused an accident near Strawberry over the weekend that killed him and left a woman with injuries. Police identified the deceased man as James Koch, a Cave City man, and the injured woman as Caitlin Whitmire, a resident of Strawberry.
The accident in question happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, February 14, 2015. It appears from the ASP reports that Koch was driving his older-model Saturn along Highway 230 that afternoon, headed west, while Whitmire was driving her Chevrolet in the eastbound lanes.
Just west of Strawberry, Koch apparently lost control of his Saturn and swerved into the oncoming lanes of traffic, where he collided head-on with Whitmire’s car.
The accident left Koch dead at the scene while Cailtin Whitmire was taken to a hospital in Little Rock for her injuries. It’s not clear what condition she was in. Right now, the ASP don’t have any theories as to what caused Koch to lose control of his car that afternoon.
