TUSCON, AZ — Alaa Mahmad was identified as the child that died ina car accident that happened in Tuscon, Arizona on Wednesday, February 11th, 2015. Several news reports said that the accident happened around 8:40 Wednesday night.
5-year-old Alaa Mahmad died when he was hit by a vehicle while he was trying to cross the street in the 1000 block of South Kolb Road. Officials said that the boy ran to catch up with a family member when he was struck by a passing motorist.
Mahmad died after the accident.
The investigation into the accident is being handled by the Tuscon Police Department at this time.

Even if the child in this accident did not have the right-of-way, or the legal right to be in the road, this does not entitle a driver to hit them if it can be avoided at all. This accident is going to depend on how much time the driver had to react, and if they failed to.
