Commentary:
Many people would see that this accident involved a city garbage truck and automatically assume the fact that it was a government vehicle has no bearing on the accident or how it will be handled, but they’d be wrong. It should be a surprise to nobody that the government has made it harder to file a claim against them than it is with any other private entity. There are miles of red tape, shortented statutes of limitations, and all kinds of hoops to jump through. Above anything, with government vehicles, time and moving quickly is typically in the best interest of victims so their claim is not chewed up and spit out by a significantly shortened statute of limitations.
