Midland, TX — There was a serious accident reported this past Tuesday (February 10, 2015) in between Midland and Odessa that involved a Texas DPS SUV and a civilian’s pickup truck. According to the news reports, three DPS troopers in the DPS SUV were injured, one of them seriously.
The accident was reported on Tuesday afternoon at about 4:30 p.m., along FM 1788.
About 5 miles south of I-20, a 26-year old Texas DPS trooper in an SUV was driving northbound along FM 1788 with two others officers riding as passengers. For unknown reasons, the SUV crashed into a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was also headed north. That truck was being driven by a 21-year old man from California.
The accident seriously injured the 26-year old DPS trooper driving the SUV and he had to be taken to a hospital. The other two troopers were also injured and one of them required a medical helicopter to take them to a hospital. The driver of the truck was taken via ambulance for his injuries. Right now, the police and the Texas DPS aren’t sure why their trooper was involved in the accident, but they’re going to be investigating more this week.
Hopefully, more details will be released.
