Commentary:
A lot of people think that because the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating their accident, that they’re going to get answers quickly, when this just simply isn’t the case. Having the NTSB investigate all plane, train, and watercraft accidents is similar to having an organization the size of the NYPD investigate every single car accident in the country. It goes without saying that the agency is almost always backed up with cases, and answers can take up to a year, or a year and a half to arrive. For those that demand answers sooner rather than later, and don’t want up to three-quarters of the time they have to work with in filing a claim (should one be necessary) dissolve, and independent investigation can arrive at answers faster than the NTSB. Keep this in mind with any kind of aviation accident, you don’t have to wait on an inefficient government agency to finish their work.
