Greenway, AR — A Greenway man died on Thursday afternoon this week and his wife was injured after their car was in a head-on wreck along Highway 139. This happened close to the AR/MO border and the victims were later identified as Scotty Corter, 51, and Laura Corter, 46.
The Arkansas State Police report read that this happened around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, February 5, near the intersection of State Highways 139 & 90.
Scotty Corter and Laura Corter were in a Ford that was headed south along Highway 139 yesterday afternoon while another driver, James Roberts, was driving north in his car.
For reasons still under investigation, Roberts lost control of his car (also a Ford) about 1 mile north of Highway 90 and swerved into oncoming traffic. His car crashed head-on into the Corter’s car, causing major damage. Scotty Corter was killed immediately while Laura Corter was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. Somehow, Roberts wasn’t harmed at all in the accident. He is from Piggott, AR.
As of Friday, it’s not clear what caused Mr. Roberts to lose control of his car yet.
