Ambridge, PA — Police identified Debra Douds as the woman who was killed in a box truck accident in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, on Friday, January 16, 2015. The accident took place at the intersection of Route 65 and 4th Street.
According to local reports, Douds had stopped at a red light and was hit by a Penske rental truck being driven by 36-year old Jeremy Hurst. Officials say that Doud’s vehicle was pushed more than 200 feet before it came to a stop.
Douds was killed in the accident.
Police are currently investigating the accident, but have said that Hurst is a recovering methamphetamine addict who they believe may have fallen asleep behind the wheel in the seconds before the crash. They’re currently looking to recover the truck’s black box, or Electronic Control Module, which will give them information on the truck’s actions in the seconds leading up to the accident.
Hurst has an outstanding warrant relating to methamphetamine production and officials say that he will extradited before being brought back to resolve this accident.
