Pueblo, CO — There was an industrial accident that involved some heavy machinery on Sunday, February 1, that claimed the life of a Denver man. Police said that Donald Leister, 25, was killed on Sunday after an accident at the Comanche Power Plant.
They said that, though the details aren’t exactly clear at this point, it appears that Leister was working alongside some machinery at the plant when an accident happened. A large transformer or a part of it accidentally shifted as it was being moved from one location to another and Leister was somehow crushed.
He was critically injured and died at the scene, authorities said. One of the companies at the plant doing the work was identified as Xcel Energy, but Leister was apparently working for a different company.

The details here need to be ironed out, but if this worker was killed due to the negligence of some other company, then the normal rules of workplace accident law might not apply in quite the same way. That is, this worker may have a regular claim against the company whose employee(s) caused the accident. Again, I’m not sure anyone here has enough information to really make assumptions, but this is a definite possibility.
