Decatur, TX — Police said that a head-on collision on Saturday night left four people with serious injuries. This happened in between Slidell and Decatur, along FM 51. The victims were identified as Guy Matlock, 69, Randy Matlock, 33, and Jacob Byrd, 25, who were driving a white SUV and Dylan Lamoreaux, 21, and his unnamed passenger, who were in a Kia sedan.
The accident was reported at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night, January 31, 2015. So far, it appears that Dylan Lamoreaux may have been driving in the wrong lanes, if the news reports are accurate.
Authorities and sources in Wise County said that Lamoreaux and his unnamed male passenger were driving south along FM 51 in their Kia sedan when, for unknown reasons, they ended up in the northbound lanes near County Road 2320.
The Kia crashed head-on into Guy Matlock’s white Saturn SUV, which Randall Matlock (his son) and Jacob Byrd were also riding in as passengers. The accident did serious damage to both vehicles, leaving all five men with varying degrees of injuries. Police said that Lamoreaux and his passenger were in the worst condition while Byrd and Matlocks were both hospitalized with less serious injuries.
Right now, police are trying to determine why 21-year old Dylan Lamoreaux lost control of his car that night.
