Philadelphia, PA — There was a fatal accident reported last Friday (January 23, 2015) that took the life of a young girl, 11, and left a woman, 35, with injuries. Police haven’t given much detail in their reports, but said that it happened on Friday morning at about 8:15 a.m.
This was along Cheltenham Avenue, at the Old York Road overpass, they said. The 11-year old girl and 35-year old woman were both in a Ford Mustang that was driving along Cheltenham that morning when it suddenly lost control in the westbound lanes and hit the sidewall.
The Mustang then spun into the middle of the lanes, where it was hit by a passing minivan. The accident ejected the 11-year old girl and she was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died. The 35-year old woman in the Mustang was also injured, but her condition wasn’t released.
The woman driving the minivan was treated for minor injuries. Police don’t know why the Mustang lost control that morning, but said they’d take a closer look in the coming days.
