Irving, TX — Officials say it will be two months before the victim of a hit and run accident fully recovers after an accident that took place in Irving, Texas, on Sunday, January 18, 2015.
The accident took place at the intersection of Irving Blvd. and MacArthur Blvd. Sandy Dalton and a friend had biked nearly 20 miles when she was hit by a white Escalade. The collision threw her from her bike and onto the shoulder of the road, fracturing her pelvic bone and her hip joint.
The driver of the Escalade failed to stop. They just kept driving.
The accident means that Dalton is unable to get around at home without the use of a walker.
The Fort Worth Bicycling Association is currently offering $6,000 for information that will lead to the arrest of the driver who fled the scene.

Commentary
There’s no question as to who’s going to be found at fault after an accident like this. Behavior like this is so inexcusable, I have to wonder if the driver of the Escalade maybe left the scene of the accident because they had something they didn’t want to police to see, aside from the person they had just hit with their vehicle. On some level, that would at least make sense. If they fled because they just couldn’t be bothered to help the woman they had just hit, that’s a entirely different level of irresponsible. Hopefully they’ll be caught sooner rather than later, because this sort of behavior can’t be tolerated.
