Commentary:
Whenever the National Transportation Safety Board investigates a plane crash, I try to tell everybody involved not to expect speedy results. This agency is possibly one of the most backlogged offices within our government, and the number of cases only grows every day. I’ve seen the final results take up to a year or a year and a half to arrive, and even worse, this time is eroded away from the statute of limitations, meaning, the families may only have mere months to file a claim, should one be necessary after the investigation. This is where independent investigation can really benefit victims and surviving families. These investigations often provide answers faster, and give victims much more time to work with in the event negligence was a factor in the accident.
