Commentary
If police are on the right track and this was caused because of a blown tire, my question is, what caused the tire to blow? Many people don’t realize this, but a tire isn’t a solid piece of rubber. It’s made of several pieces put together to look like a single piece. And just like anything else put together by people, they can malfunction and break. Many times you’ll see a long piece of tread, maybe lying out on the highway following an accident. What you’re seeing is a tread that’s become separated from the rest of the tire through what’s called delamination. If a tire in this accident was defective, it’s possible that liability for the accident could fall back on the manufacturer.
