Cleveland, OH — At least two people were injured in an accident involving a dump truck in Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. The accident happened at the intersection of E. 38th Street and St. Clair Avenue.

At least two individuals were riding in a dump truck that crashed into the overpass on St. Clair. Emergency responders had to use the jaws of life to free the two from the vehicle.

This really just sounds like a case where the driver forgets what road he’s on, drives under a bridge his vehicle has no clearance for, and gets stuck. Luckily, it could have been much worse than it was. Reports say that two people were inside the dump truck when the accident. I’m assuming the driver works for whoever owns the truck. But what about the passenger? If they both worked for the same company, then this will be taken care of through workers’ comp. But if the passenger was just a passenger, and not an employee, then they would have a claim against the driver. News reports have released only a few details on what happened here, so hopefully the police investigation will be able to shed more light on it in the coming days.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
